Description
CoQ-10 is present in most tissues of the body, with the highest concentrations found in the heart, liver, and kidneys organs that consume a great deal of cellular energy. A powerful antioxidant, CoQ-10 is a nutrient required for energy production by every cell in the body a substance that protects cells from free radicals, highly reactive chemicals capable of damaging important cellular components.
Tissue levels of CoQ-10 decrease with age, due to increased requirements, decreased production, and/or insufficient intake of the chemical precursors needed for synthesis. In addition, low blood levels of CoQ-10 have been detected in patients in poor health due to various causes.
